"The Western Ghats undergo a dramatic transformation with the arrival of the Deccan monsoon. Sahyadri: Shades of the Deccan Monsoon is an exploration of this fleeting, ethereal landscape—where ancient basalt cliffs are enveloped in drifting mists, and rain-soaked valleys come alive with vibrant light and water.

Working in oils allows me to capture the heavy, moisture-laden atmosphere of storm skies, the delicate luminescence breaking through clouds, and the tactile richness of the terrain. Each canvas is less a record of a static vista and more an attempt to translate the quiet poetry, damp breeze, and raw majesty of the Sahyadri wilderness. Through layered glazes and textured brushwork, these paintings invite the viewer to pause and feel the rhythm of the monsoon in the hills."

Tushar is a software engineer by profession and a painter by passion. Although he has no formal training in fine arts, his deep love for painting reignited in 2013, after a gap of 15 years and has been his creative anchor ever since. The application of pigment on surface calms his mind.

He actively practices plein air sketching and painting on every Sunday with like-minded group in Pune. His works often capture the charm of old cityscapes and heritage structures, subjects that are slowly disappearing from the urban landscape. He has a fondness for using contrasting colors to portray light and shadow, breathing life and energy into his compositions.

Tushar has traveled to several Italian cities and Paris, visiting renowned museums and immersing himself in the world’s artistic heritage. During these trips, he created plein air sketches and paintings.

For oil colors, he focusses on one of his favorite themes: The Sahyadri mountain range during monsoon. Working in oils allows him to capture the heavy, moisture-laden atmosphere of storm skies, the delicate luminescence breaking through clouds, and the tactile richness of the terrain.

"Painting is the only time I feel alive."
